It's New Day!

I don’t know what’s been going on in my weird little head for the past couple of months. I’ve had zero motivation to work out which is strange because I LOVE working out! I haven’t been super social. I’ve just been in a downer kind of a mood. I think I feel stuck because I’m single and don’t really have friends to hang out with these days. Well I’m putting a stop to this nonsense today! I’m a happy, active, fun person and I need to find that side of me again. So here’s what I’ve been up to for the last few months.

Football season is almost over so I’ve spent some great time with friends and family. Chandra, Trevor, Adam and I took a little road trip to Logan to watch our Utes get beat by the Aggies.

I spent a lovely afternoon hiking and taking in the beautiful fall colors.

I cut 5 inches off my hair… FIVE!!!

Halloween came and went too fast. I was a panda bear and I convinced Adam to dress  up as Richard Simmons!

I spent a lovely afternoon at the zoo and fell in love with the bears.

I VOTED!

I went to the last RSL game of the year with one of my best buds.

We had a huge snow storm so I spent an afternoon walking the streets of downtown welcoming winter.

That’s about all I’ve been doing.

I haven’t blogged in a minute  so my quickie update.

School is good.
Work is good.
Life is not so good.

I’m in a rut.
I feel stuck.
I’m lonely.
I hate dating.
I miss having friends.
I’m trying to remain positive.
I can’t wait until I can get the hell out of this town.

That is all.

Zombie Nation

I love any reason to wear a costume! So when my co-worker told me about a zombie pub crawl I got all sorts of excited. However I’m not a makeup artist so I was a little worried about how my zombie makeup would turn out. I learned everything I now know from watching a 5 minute video on youtube! I headed to a costume store on Friday afternoon where I grabbed some liquid latex, fake blood and red, blue and green face paint. I went home and made my first attempt at creating a scar/wound. I think it turned out pretty well. Who knew toilet paper and liquid latex could be so awesome! Then Saturday came, I had invited Dawn and Chandra to come get ready at my house and have some dinner before we hit the town. So I decided to get myself ready before they arrived. Here are the steps I took. *sorry for the duck lips... I have no clue why I was making that face in every picture! Apply liquid latex to the area you want to have puffed up. Then added pieces of toilet paper. Cover the toilet paper with another layer of liquid latex and let dry for about 10-15 minutes. Once dry start coloring in the wound with red paint. Then add other colors such as blue and green for added shading and depth. Finally cover the wound with the fake blood, and this is what you get. I followed these same steps with Dawn and Chandra and I think we were zombielicious!! We went to the Jackeloupe where we met the rest of the zombies before heading to, Wasted Space, Juniors, Cheers to You and finally Green Pig Pub. I didn't take many pictures but there were some creative zombies! It was a super fun night and I can’t wait until next year to do it again!

Work It!

It’s 5:03am and my alarm clock goes off….. Just so you know when I say 5:03am… I mean 5:03 IN THE EFFING MORNING! I drag myself out of my cozy bed and head to the kitchen where my protein powder is patiently waiting in a glass for some water to be added. I open my refrigerator and cringe and the first light I’ve seen all day, pull out my gallon of water and poor it into the glass. I do this as quickly as I can so I can avoid the light. I mix it together and drink it down while I close my eyes and wander to the bathroom. I flip the light on and it’s even worse than the refrigerator light!! I contemplate going back to bed but then I tell myself that I’m already up, and if I crawl back into my warm bed I will just be more tired the NEXT time my stinking alarm goes off. So I brush my teeth and pull my hair back, and put on my gym clothes. I make sure I have my headphones, because I know there’s no way in hell I can do cardio without music. I grab my keys and I’m out the door. For some reason once I step out into the fresh air I start to get excited. I know I’m about to sweat my face off and that I will both love and hate every second of it. I enter the gym and am greeted politely by one of the 2 morning workers “good morning Kristi, have a good workout!”….. About an hour later as I’m dripping with sweat and both exhausted and energized the great staff waves goodbye and never fails to say “see you tomorrow!” or “have a great day!” This has become my pre- morning routine for the last three weeks. I’m preparing myself now so once my classes start in June I will be used to waking up before the sun. I know that my 8am-5pm work schedule followed by a 5:30pm-8pm school schedule that I’ll just be too tired to make time for the gym at the end of the day. So I’m pushing myself to my limits every morning. I love that I’m re-discovering my love for working out. Plus I’ve become a fan of going to an empty gym and never having to wait for equipment! I spend a little time each day looking up motivational quotes, pictures or healthy recipes (thank you pinterest for making this super easy). I thought I’d share some of them here.

Lunch packed up, my boots tied tight, I hope I don't get in a fight!

Well I’m finally in the works of finishing school! I’m a major slacker I know! I’ve been in and out of college for the last decade and I still don’t have a degree. Between work, medical issues and being young and dumb I’ve never gotten around to finishing. But that’s all changing. As of yesterday I have officially registered for my last 2 semesters at SLCC yahoo! However that’s not even where it’s going to end… I haven’t had a real live math class since I was in 8th grade!!! I mean I took math all through high school, but I had those teachers who didn’t really care, or I should say they liked me so I was able to do whatever the hell I wanted and still get a good grade. That said in order to get my degree I need math, but I would have to start in the lowest possible math class (almost), which would mean 4 semesters of math… SUCKY! However I found a solution. Once I finish these last two semesters I will then be transferring to UVU where they offer a super intense math class that will get all of the college math credits in one semester! Once I finish that class I will technically have my associates but I won’t have enough credits through UVU to graduate…. SO I will just start taking classes working towards my BA until I can officially apply for my AS. Once that is done I might finish my BA from UVU or I possibly transfer to the U… I know that’s a lot of jumping around but it will work and let’s be honest I’m a huge fan of the University of Utah so of course I want a degree from them! I’m super excited about it, even though I’m working for the company I want to retire from I just really want those degrees plus they will only help me to promote within FedEx.

Even though I’m going to be crazy busy this summer I still need a Summer-O-Fun bucket list so here are some of the things I hope to enjoy:

Goblin Valley
The Uintas
Go to the Zoo
Fly a kite
Drink lots of bloodymary’s
Bee’s games
Drive in movie
Learn to golf (this should be easy considering one of my classes is a golf class)
Play Frisbee golf
Hike Stewart Falls
Arts Festival
Pride weekend
Gallery Stroll
Twilight concerts
Float down a river
Fishing
Boating

It’s definitely not as long as my typical list but I have class 4 nights a week and Saturday’s so it might be hard to complete this.
